Moundridge, Kansas (May 8, 2020) – Black Canyon Home & Body, a family-owned beauty supply company, announced that it will be relocating its business from Utah to Moundridge, Kansas. The City of Moundridge Economic Development has assisted the company throughout the process of establishing its new operations in downtown Moundridge.
Black Canyon Home & Body is a manufacturer and wholesale/retail supplier of beauty products such as body lotions, sanitizers, perfumes, bath salts, and other hair products. Owned by Scott and Angie Hagerman, the company plans to add 8 to 10 employees within a year.
Moundridge Economic Development Director Murray McGee first learned of the business when he received a request for information from the Kansas Department of Commerce in 2019. In search of a new home for their company and family, the owners were focused on quality of life, education, workforce, and climate.
The Hagermans visited Moundridge and several other Kansas communities. During their weekend visit, the family toured Moundridge, looked at potential locations for their facility, and tried to get a “feel” for the community. Since the visit in early March, the Hagermans have found a home near Moundridge and will begin moving their business equipment into their new location in May.
“Two years ago we started looking at geographic locations that would decrease shipping times for all of our customers, as well as be located near some of our major suppliers,” said Owner Angie Hagerman. “You just can’t get more centralized than Kansas! We’re excited for this big change and opportunity, and for the positive implications in our business and personal lives.”
Black Canyon Home & Body has already paid it forward with a charitable donation of hand sanitizer for the Moundridge Police Department and EMS. The company has been working hard over the past two months to meet the demand for hand sanitizer throughout the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic.
