Location Advantage

Hutchinson, Kansas is a prime manufacturing and distribution hub located near the Wichita metro area in the center of the US. Reno County boasts excellent highway access to Interstate 35 via US-50 & K-96, a county-wide population of 61,882, regional labor basin of over 373,000 within a 60 mile/60-minute drive-time radius. .

Infrastructure Advantage

The Greater Hutchinson area offers a diverse set of site development opportunities. Marketing efforts are directed towards the emerging K-96 Industrial Park: a 500-acre rail-served site that is zoned for heavy industrial projects by the City of Hutchinson, served by the Watco short line rail. The site will have access to over 2.5 MGD of water and over 650 MW of electric power thanks to an agreement with local utility providers. In addition to the new industrial park, Hutchinson has a newly built 57,600 sq. ft. spec building in the municipally owned, fully rail served, site-certified Kansas Enterprise Industrial Park. Zoned for heavy industrial which is served by Hutchinson Transportation with rail switching and spurs already in place which are part of Hutchinson’s two Class I railroads – UP & BNSF. Hutchinson Regional Airport also offers development ready sites for projects requiring runway service. Hutchinson also has a redevelopment opportunity available on a 27-acre site featuring a nearly 350,000 sq. ft. industrial-grade facility.

Workforce Advantage

Hutchinson’s secret to success is the student to workforce pipeline that is graduating from the premier Hutchinson Career & Technical Education Academy (HC&TEA), as well as Hutchinson Community College (HutchCC) offering certificate and associate programs in over 40 technical fields, many of those degrees through their Business & Industry program. Greater Hutch is adding programming to reinforce our workforce pipeline at all stages, starting with Career Quest to connect Reno County 6th grade students with career exploration opportunities all the way to Signing Day to celebrate students signing on with technical trade studies.
