ALEXANDRIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (AEX)
Overview
Located within the airpark, Alexandria International Airport (AEX) began providing commercial air service in 1996 and has since served as a primary transportation hub for Central Louisiana and surrounding areas, playing a major role in the region’s economy and overall quality of life.
Alexandria International Airport-AEX (formerly England Air Force Base) is located in the heart of Central Louisiana. It offers full instrumented 9352-foot runways with no noise restrictions, PAR approaches, NVG operations, and Index D ARFF facilities, perfect for ORI Exercises or any flight training your unit may require.
With no PPR required, experience a military-friendly, world-class facility that offers 24-hour Air Traffic Control, managed by the 259th Louisiana Air National Guard. AEX can accommodate your unit, including the capacity to handle overnight exercises with our 71-room dormitory located just a couple of blocks off the flight line.
Our spacious facility is strategically located in the center of the state, making it convenient for easy access and ideal for quick turn service without the congestion of smaller, or even much larger, facilities. In addition to the ample ramp space located at AEX (MOG 37 C-17s), there are 3 newly constructed C-5 capable Hot Pads.
