Lake Wales, FL (January 25, 2018) – Site Location Partnership (SLP), a Dallas-based site selection advisory firm, announced that the former International Paper Company’s industrial manufacturing building in Lakes Wales, Florida was purchased by Fence Outlet, a Florida-based manufacturing and retail company. Fence Outlet brings a new manufacturing mission for the area, and offers up to 100 jobs to the community.
The sale was brokered by Kyle Vreeland and Greg Smith of Coldwell Banker Commercial Saunders Ralston Dantzler Realty (CBCSRD). “The project took some time because the building had to be just right for a specific buyer,” said Kevin Kieft, President of the Lake Wales Area Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development Council. “Many people have worked tirelessly for almost five years to make the sale of the International Paper plant possible. I was excited to see it work out and kudos to Kyle and Greg for getting it done.”
Fence Outlet has a 273,384-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility and sits on 50-acres to support its retail centers. Initially, the company is looking to fill positions for facility technician, material handler, maintenance technician, packer, and operator trainee. Coley Diaz, manager of Human Resources for Fence Outlet, said the building met their needs for a centralized location between east and west Florida with rail access. The company has already moved into the facility with plans to become operational in early February.
The sale of the former International Paper plant to Fence Outlet is great economic news for Lake Wales, particularly as it applies to new job opportunities for local residents. In economic development, new manufacturing businesses and revitalized manufacturing facilities are prized because they have the highest “multiplier effect” — the ancillary economic benefits they almost always produce.
