AMERICAN WIND ENERGY ASSOCIATION (AWEA)

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is the national trade association for the U.S. wind industry – the country’s fastest growing energy industry. With thousands of wind industry members and wind policy advocates, AWEA promotes wind energy as a clean source of electricity for American consumers. Our mission: We know that wind energy works for America’s economy, environment, and energy security. That’s why our mission is to promote wind power growth through advocacy, communication, and education. Here’s what we do to help wind power a cleaner, stronger America:

  • We educate lawmakers and the public about wind energy: wind energy is affordable, clean, abundant – and made in the USA. That’s why AWEA makes the case for wind energy to policy makers and the public.

  • We advocate for wind energy policy on Capitol Hill and across states: AWEA works with Congress and state legislatures to pass legislation that ensures America develops its rich wind resource. In particular, we advocate for policies that extend the federal Production Tax Credit (PTC); establish state Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS); support successful siting and permitting of wind projects by government agencies; and strengthen the small, community-scale and offshore segments of the industry.

  • We host the wind industry’s premier annual conference: Every year, AWEA hosts WINDPOWER®, the largest wind energy conference and exhibition in North America. Presenters highlight the latest industry trends, technology innovation, and renewable energy policy developments. WINDPOWER also provides unmatched access to wind industry business and technology leaders.

  • We research wind energy and keep you updated: The association is the wind industry clearinghouse, communicating facts and statistics on wind energy news, via our press releases, Power of Wind blog, and our daily and weekly newsletters; state-by-state wind energy status and national wind energy growth; and the bottom line on the world’s top wind power issues.

  • We offer opportunities to get involved: AWEA membership allows companies, nonprofits and other organizations to become a part of the wind energy movement. Individuals can get involved – and get their voice heard – by joining thousands of pro-wind activists who advocate for wind power.
