We excel at healthcare. Samaritan Regional Health System was ranked in 2012 by Thomson Reuters as a Top 100 Hospital in the nation and one of only two Ohio Hospitals in the small community hospital category.

We excel at higher education. Ashland University, a private institution in Ashland, was ranked in the Top 200 of colleges and universities in the National Universities category by U.S. News and World Report for 2013. Ashland University was then ranked in the Top 15 Over-performing colleges in the nation in 2013. Additionally, four out of six of our public school systems have been ranked "Excellent" or higher by the State of Ohio.

Nestled between two of Ohio’s largest cities, Cleveland and Columbus, Ashland’s cost of living is 14 percent lower than the national average and is ranked 10th in the country according to CBS Money Watch in 2012 and 2013. The average selling price of a home in 2012 was $107,772 (approximately $33,000 less than the average in the Midwest), making home ownership very affordable.

We excel at community. Ashland County is filled with business and community-oriented people who combine to give freely to many charity organizations. The United Way of Ashland County raises more than $1 million a year.
